Bahá’í Quotes

Wisdom

Know ye that true wisdom is to fear God, to know Him, and to recognize His Manifestations. This wisdom, however, can be attained only by those who detach themselves from the world, and who walk in the ways of the good pleasure of their Lord.

- Bahá’u’lláh, The Summons of the Lord of Hosts, p. 234-235

The essence of wisdom is the fear of God, the dread of His scourge and punishment, and the apprehension of His justice and decree.

- Bahá’u’lláh, Tablets of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 155

Even so, this activity should be tempered with wisdom -- not that wisdom which requireth one to be silent and forgetful of such an obligation, but rather that which requireth one to display divine tolerance, love, kindness, patience, a goodly character, and holy deeds.

- ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Selections from the Writings of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, p. 268
